When Everything Falls Into Place
Linga Longer (Lynton Station), near Port Gregory
This morning we had a plan. Those who know us will appreciate that detailed plans are not our forte. But today, we sort of needed things to work out because of the ticking clock on our holiday time.
And, indeed, our plan worked out very nicely!
We left Red Bluff Caravan Park around ten and drove back into Kalbarri National Park. We visited the less touristy gorges - Ross Graham lookout and Hawks Head - not quite as spectacular as the ones we went to yesterday but still interesting and no buses of tourists. The day was a perfect 28 or so degrees temperature with flowers, red-orange rocks, blue sky, and quite a lot of greenery. I felt at moments like we were in England!
In the light of all that beauty, Mark and I decided to get some "album cover" shots for him and some marketing photos for my glass website. Another couple was there with a toy bear and fox, which they sat on a rock and photographed. We decided this was for their kids, for an art project, or they were just really weird. In fact, when we later saw their van, it had a fox/ bear on it, so it seemed they too were doing marketing shots.

| Mark neglected to tell me my hair was flat from my hat so I dont think I'll be using the photos. But it was fun posing!. |
After the gorges, we found an open cafe, and had lunch right opposite the main Kalbarri foreshore. We were contemplating how to fill in the next few hours waiting for our spare tyre, when we got a text saying the tyre had arrived early and was ready!

Which meant we could get going earlier, and therefore arrived at tonight's camp site with plenty of time.
Which turned out to be worthwhile because we are on a station that is full of history - with various buildings from 1850 built by convicts. One was a museum and one was an old building that looked like a hotel- both great opportunities for more album-cover photos for Mark!

I then had a walk up to the top of a hill, which had fantastic views. The only thing missing was the 'pink lakes' (the pink is caused by algae) - I think they are a bit too empty to see at present. I did observe in myself the perverse tendency we humans tend to have, which is to walk to the highest point possible, and then zoom the camera in as everything looks too far away…

Next was 'happy hour' in the camp, which is where the guests staying all get together and have some pre-dinner drinks. We all sat in a big circle and the farm owner, Jenny Poett, asked us to say our name, where we are from, and best place we've been in the past six weeks.
I started, and mentioned I am originally from Kojonup, and it turned out Jenny the owner knows mum (from pennants tennis), uncle Rob and Aunty Muff (used to live next to them in Katanning), and is a great mate of my sister Kayelene's (Kayelene's previous farm, Jib Jib, is not far from here)!
There was the usual diverse set of people with lots of stories to share, many of whom were super keen to talk - a lot. As Mark observed, it seems people are very glad of the chance to talk to someone other than their partner!

All up a day in which things came together and worked out well!
