Trevor’s Tip and Tank Tour (no. 2)
Trevor and Chrissie’s House, 31 Mosher Way, Karratha
We were on an early start this morning - at 745am we were ready to go. When we arrived at our destination there was already lots of people waiting, so we were a tad late. We joined the growing queue. At 8am precisely the gates opened and everyone flooded in, some almost running….
We were at the Karratha rubbish tip, which opens up once a week for people to buy things! Trevor and Chrissie go every Saturday, so naturally - being a Parker- I was keen to go too :-)
Within 5 minutes, Mark had found the best thing - a console box for the van which will go between our seats in the van. It has coffee cup holders and plugs in to keep the esky part either hot or cold. It even works!
Trevor and Chrissie got a generator worth $600 plus shade cloth, a sturdy camping table, a big steel box, books, and more. Everything cost $37 in total!

Then we drove to Roebourne. It was a good to have a chance to check the town out properly (we previously were so focused on getting diesel that we barely looked at it). Interesting old buildings and an art gallery. It is a town that was infamous for the level of domestic violence, incest, and general violence but the women of the town came together and took over, making it a dry town. Roebourne is very different today than ten years ago.

Then onto Cossack and Wickham. Cossack has all these amazing historical buildings that are pretty much deserted. Apparently in dispute amongst owners/ government etc. Surrounded by white sandy beaches and interesting graves. Such a shame as I think it’s the most attractive location of all the places we’ve been the last few days. Hopefully something will change and it will regenerate.

Quite appropriately we think, we ended the day with a final tank lookout....
Then we returned home, had a rest, did some yoga with Chrissie, ate freshly caught fish for dinner, and now watching the footy.
Terrific day, feel very privileged to have had this special tour!
