Whale Of A Time

Cable Beach Caravan Park, Broome

We did some shopping this morning. Found a shop called ‘ 12 volts’ - can you believe that for a perfect specialty shop?  Anyway we bought a fan to plug in the cigarette lighter in case we can’t get the air-conditioner going. Then we found a mall. I was excited to be in Kmart buying lots of cheap things for about 20 mins, but the shopping euphoria was short lived. Suddenly I just wanted to be out of there as fast as possible!

Much more fun this afternoon….We went on a whale watching cruise. It was a small boat and Mark and I got prime seats (beanbags on the front deck).

A salty sea dog

Best seats on the boat

There were many humpback whales - they come down to the warm waters of Broome to mate and give birth. We didn’t have a whale come right up to the boat, but we saw lots! At one point there was one behind, some to the side, and some in front. Including lots of calf’s. There was a bit of tail slapping from one whale but I only got a quick glimpse. They are truly majestic creatures.

Crap photo…but gave up trying to get a pic - whales kept disappearing every time I was ready to shoot and vice versa (appearing when my camera was in pocket)

Anyway with the perfect weather and seats, it was a fantastic afternoon. Even Mark enjoyed it (despite looking like a salty sea dog he usually prefers viewing the sea through a window).

Returning to shore, yet another beautiful sunse

Very cool boat that turns into a tractor - picked us up and took us out to the whale watching boat
