Singing for Supper
Bungle Bungle Caravan Park, near Bungle Bungle National Park
Mark playing in the moonlight
We were the last to leave Larrawa station - despite us having a motorhome and everyone else having far more complex set ups. Let’s just say we are thorough. Or slack.
We also had a lovely chat to the Manchester couple who were second last to leave.
We were perturbed this morning when we put ‘bungle bungle caravan park’ into the map as it was saying 11 plus hours instead of the 2hrs that I was expecting. This was because the road beyond Halls Creek was saying ‘bushfires’ so a deviation was recommended. But the deviation -apart from being 11 hours on gravel roads -would have missed the bungle bungles….So we ignored the warnings and proceeded with crossed fingers.
By the time we got to the problem road, all appeared fine. So we proceeded and apart from a little bit of smoke, all was indeed fine.
We arrived at the caravan park in the early afternoon. We asked about Mark singing and the staff were delighted. “We love camp entertainment” they said.
So Mark sang to people eating dinner and having a drink whilst the almost-full moon was rising and the sun setting.
Before - waiting for the crowd
During - the crowd being entertained
Earlier when checking in the staff had told us that dinner was booked out. But while Mark singing, the chef came and said "Please get a free plate for you and your partner". Dinner was worth $50 each! Best of all - no need for cooking or cleaning - which felt especially fitting since tonight we missed Bookclub at nas and Saeed’s house (they always cook the most sublime Persian food…).
On that note, we had a late night call from Bookclub folks who had clearly consumed a lot more wine than we had! We missed them!
