On the Road Again

 Timber Creek, Northern Territory

Just a short blog tonight as I have been working on my mosaic - which is almost finished. Speaking of art, Suzy made a lovely painting from the last photo in yesterday’s blog. She captured the vibe perfectly!

Suzy's beautiful painting of Kunnunara Lake based on yesterday's photo

After 4 nights in Kunnunara, although enjoyable, there is something special about heading off again, on the road. Part of it is the uncertainty - not being quite sure where we will end up - which keeps things interesting. And part of it is just the ‘road routine’ we seem to slip readily back into - Mark driving and singing, and me mosaicing and planning the next phase of the trip (I plan about 1 week to ten days ahead so today started figuring out post - Darwin).

Example planning notes

Mark driving and singing

We had a reasonably short yet bumpy drive - the road was eroded at bridges causing a dip, so mark would yell out ‘bridge’ to warn me so I wouldn’t cut my fingers off . Maybe road funding is not as good in the Northern Territory? But lots of beautiful rivers.

It was a first in- first served campsite so we were lucky and happy to get a powered site. We are fine without power but we are finding the air conditioner pretty handy as the temperatures increase.

Crossing the border from WA to NT

I walked along the creek at the back of the park - quite English in style. Although every rustle in the grass I worried was a croc - something I have never worried about on a walk in the uk!

Eagles every where up here

We went for dinner at the roadhouse restaurant but there was one poor guy serving in the pub and the restaurant so after 30 mins waiting for him to take our order we gave up and came back to the motorhome. On to Katherine tomorrow!
