Mindfulness, Massage and Markets

181 Leanyer drive, Darwin, Hipcamp of the year 2023 and 2025

This morning, en route to Darwin, we went to Berry Springs - yet another thermal spring and large natural pool.

Massage, first of the day, from the waterfall at Berry Springs

As I was floating down stream, I thought this can be my new mindfulness activity… I am not sure if you are familiar with the one where you imagine putting your unhelpful thoughts on leaves and then imagine the leaves flowing down the river? The idea is to recognise your thoughts are ‘just thoughts’ and so you don’t need to get tangled up in them. Anyway I think I shall adapt the activity to be like this:

Me on my special floater (two people asked where they could get one this morning) in water that is body temperature and crystal clear … drifting down stream … looking at green palms against the blue sky, butterflies flittering by. The unhelpful thoughts will be placed on the leaves that flutter off the trees and then land gently on the top of the running water - while I continue being pulled down river. There are little blue fish swimming underneath me and occasionally my back touches warm smooth rocks …  I finally arrive in the large pool with the sun on my tummy and the birds circling above… aah… I am fully in the moment and almost asleep…

On the other hand, I could just get a foot massage, which is what I am doing right now at the Darwin Mindil Beach Markets - and I am feeling VERY relaxed!

Markets - shopping as the sun sets

Really feel we are in Darwin now with the palm trees

We are staying at our first Hipcamp - and it’s an award winning one. I am picking up tips for Kayelene (sister who has a hipcamp).  Number one tip - have lots of rules. There are 13 notices with instructions in the bathroom alone! Not sure I can see Kayelene doing that :-)  (also all those rules does rather undermine the holiday vibe!)

Anyway more tips re award-winning Hipcamp tomorrow!
