Last Day in WA

 Kimberland Waterfront Caravan Park (still)

Due to Mark's virtual singing lesson this afternoon, we decided to get up early for us (730am) and ride to the Mirima National Park, which is just a few km's out of town. Once we got there, we had planned just the shortest walk but - just like our Class Five walk - we were at the juncture where the decision needed to be made and two women appeared and said "we've been on the long walk, but it is really easy and is stunning".

So, gullible as ever, we made a last minute decision to do the longer walk of 3.5K - which may not sound long, but it involved a lot of scrambling over rocks and it was HOT.  The women were right - the walk was stunning (however I would not have described it as "really easy"). The range is known as the 'mini- Bungle Bungles', and you can see from the photos why that nickname is apt. Both of us were once again struck by the beautiful colours of the landscape.

Can you see a turtle from the rock layout?

And here, can you see a teenage mutant ninja turtle?

Pink wildflowers everywhere

After the walk, and almost out of water, we rode into town, had coffee and did a bit of shopping - including lights for our bikes!

Then I spent the afternoon at the pool reading poetry, and then did some yoga on the bed (new goal: 30 mins of yoga each day). The bed might sound a strange choice for yoga but it’s the only space inside the air-conditioned campervan that is large enough. Outside is too hot.

The day culminated in us reading whilst watching the sun set over the lake the back of the park - especially beautiful tonight due to smoke from a bushfire somewhere.

Tomorrow we depart Kunnunara and head to the Northern Territory for about a week before we'll need to start meandering home. Can’t bring myself to plan the return journey home yet - in denial.
