Just A Perfect Day
Big 4 Breeze Caravan Park, Katherine
Yesterday I promised some lyrics from one of Mark’s new songs:
Going Downhill
“They say that going downhill means you’re getting near the end,
Everything that used to work is broken now or bent…
I’m going downhill on a roller coaster
I’m not slowing down; I’m going faster”
For someone going downhill, fast, Mark still cooks a good breakfast….
After our bacon and eggs, we rode our bikes to Katherine Hot Springs a couple of kms away. The springs are fantastic! Crystal clear, warm water gently flowing downstream. When we arrived, there were not so many people, which was especially terrific. In contrast to all my other swims on this trip, the water was very warm.
I’d brought a blow up pool toy from home that I got for Xmas a few years ago - it was perfect! I identified three key positions, depending on what I was doing…. (see pics).
Coffee-drinking position
Paddling up-stream position
Floating down-stream position
One of the streams
Then we rode back, this time finding a river trail and a beautiful reserve.
Reserve where people were swimming, despite prominent signs not to swim due to the crocodiles
"What's keeping you?" (Mark's bike is faster than mine)
I always see a lot of this on our rides (the back of Mark)
By the time we got home, I was ready for another swim. So I went to the caravan park pool - a full 25m and completely empty! Did half a km or so, had a spa (also empty), and then back to the van for a relaxing afternoon reading, working on projects, and napping.
Excellent pool- no excuse for not doing some serious laps
Finally, ending the day with a refreshing glass of white wine and entrees at the bistro, followed by movie, and early to bed.
“Just a perfect day” as per Lou Reed, in the top end of Australia.
