Litchfield Safari Camp, Litchfield National Park, Northern Territory
You know at dinner parties you have those questions like “would you rather be able to fly or be invisible?” - well my question to you is “do you prefer hiking uphill or downhill?”
I had an a-ha moment today. We were doing a walk around the top of Wangi Falls - and I notice that Mark just zooms downhill with great finesse and agility for his age. He gets a new lease of life when descending. Whereas I hate going downhill - I am overly tentative because I worry that I will slip. My knees creak and complain vociferously. Give me uphill any day - I like just plugging away, edging ever higher, with the promise of a great view ahead.

So now I understand - Mark’s song that relishes going downhill at speed is not just metaphorical :-)
Anyway, the first part of our walk (uphill) felt like we were in Cairns - tropical trees with birds and butterflies everywhere. Then we weaved our way back (downhill) following the waterfall.

| Water trickling down the hill |
After the walk, I had a great swim in Wangi Pool while Mark had a coffee.

| Huge spiders on the edge of the pool! |

Then back to the campsite for lunch, a lazy afternoon with a swim in the swimming pool, reading, and a short walk in the evening.
 |
| So many eagles around here! You should be able to spot 5 in this picture |
 |
| Our short cut back to the campsite after the evening walk. Never did spot anything that could be dangerous so figure the sign was just trying to keep people out.... |
So which do you prefer? Are you an uphill or downhill person?
