Kimberland Waterfront Caravan Park
Pretty relaxed day today. Rode our bikes into town for brunch, and visited an art gallery.

The bungle bungles
I then had a swim in the rather lovely pool while Mark did the washing and read his book. Seems like a fair division of labour to me :-)

Mark has settled in - got the awning down and the tarpaulin up
We had a restaurant booked for dinner - the Pump House a few kms up the road. The challenge was - how to get there? Of course, we could drive the motorhome there, but that would have meant packing everything up - a bit of a pain… We found one taxi company - with three reviews, all one star out of five. I called them and got a quote of $35 call out, plus 10% credit card, plus mileage - more than $40 for 3kms!
In the end we opted to ride our bikes. No problem getting there as our meal was booked for 445pm (everything happens early up here) so we had daylight. But a bit trickier getting home with no bike lights …
Anyway first was our meal. We had some lovely food, with great seats and enjoyed the sun setting on the river.

Cat fish in the river right below us. We did wonder if the ‘Barra’ on the menu was really Barra…

Yep, another sunset
Then came our ride home… We decided to take a different route back to avoid the main roads, some of which had very steep edges that could be perilous in the dark. I had brought with us two torches, plus rope to tie the torches onto the front of our bikes. But my torch wouldn’t work and Mark opted just to hold his. There were bats flying around and crocodiles in the river, plus who knows what other creatures were lurking in the dark. There are a fair few two-legged crocs in this place too….
Anyway despite -or perhaps because of all of this -we had quite an exhilarating ride home, river on one side, bush on the other, me sticking closely to Mark so I could see what was ahead, both of us praying the torch batteries would not run out. Actually the ride was the highlight of my day :-) No creatures got us, we didn’t get run over, and we saved $80!!
