Hills and Heat At Last in Karijini

Tom Price Caravan Park, Tom Price

Relatively short drive today, just a few hours. But the sun came out for the first time on our trip, and we saw hills, even mountains.
Looking for the pot of gold...

Another random road stop and an attempt at a pano (but there should only be one road?)

We stopped enroute at the Karijini Information Centre and had lunch in the car park. Felt very American doing this!

Have fallen in love with these extremely white trees

We also stopped at Joffre Lookout and had our first glimpse of the astonishing gorges. You could see people down the bottom climbing down very steep stairs, and then spider-climbing along the wall to get to the rock pools. Not sure we'll be doing that hike....

On arrival, we settled into our Tom Price camp site - no power tonight, but tomorrow we move to a powered site. Mark played to the birds. Then we caught the caravan park bus to the local sports bar and had Thai from a food truck. Met some people from Adelaide and had a good chat. Learned from them about the idea of separation of powers - see later blog!
